Fire and safety

STAY AHEAD OF THE FIRE SAFETY AND GET A HANDLE ON PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION

Nordisk Profil is not only your facade supplier. We are also your fire engineering sparring partner.

In practice, this means that we deliver solutions with full fire safety approval, which we have 100% control over and can document.

But it also means that we advise and engage in a dialog with our customers about the fire safety requirements before choosing a solution from Nordisk Profil.

We are at the forefront of fire safety and End Use tests and documents all our façade solutions according to EN 13501-1 and EN 13823. This ensures that the system solutions used in a given project are classification tested and approved.

It is important to consider fire safety in the project phase. Fire safety requirements often set the framework for the choice of materials, dimensions, design and economy, so it is important to understand the project's fire strategy and passive fire protection in the initial project phase.

Fire-resistant facade cladding

With a solution from Nordisk Profil, you get full fire safety approval and documentation of the installed facade system without compromising on design or choice of materials.

Woodfac, which is Nordisk Profil's wood facade system, meets the fire safety requirements according to EN 14915. EN 14915. So much so that it is the only product on the market that has been classification tested and passed to B-s1,d0 / B-s2,d0.

Nordisk Profil has also performed, tested and passed the Reaction-to-fire facade test according to ISO13785-1. ISO13785-1.

Flame retardant and durability

It is crucial for Nordisk Profil that the durability of the wooden lamellae is tested and documented according to applicable standards and guidelines.

The fire properties of wood can be documented over time, cf. EN 16755, partly by measuring the hygroscopic properties of the fire-impregnated product and partly by an accelerated weather test (durability).

The EN 16755 standard is not a fire technical requirement, but a method to measure and document durability. As an auxiliary tool, it ensures that the applied fire retardant remains and maintains the fire-technical properties over time.

Nordisk Profil only uses Burnblock's fire retardant, which is the only one on the market that has achieved accreditation, approval and full classification according to EN 16755.

This ensures that the fire properties are maintained (ISO 5660-1) both before and after accelerated ageing tests according to test method EN 927-6, which is part of EN 16755:2017.

The flame retardant is Cradle to Cradle certified with the highest designation (Platinum) for "material health". It consists of 100% natural substances, is 100% biodegradable, non-toxic and VOC emission-free. In other words, quite a sustainable product.
