Live Copenhagen - Hermodsgade

Architect: Holscher Nordberg

Facade system: Woodfac Panel

Transformation with respect for architecture

The former Electrolux factory on Hermodsgade in Copenhagen has been given new life as 189 modern student apartments. The project is an excellent example of how an 87-year-old industrial building can be transformed for a new purpose while respecting its original architecture and history.

The renovation was designed by Holscher Nordberg, and in 2022, the project was nominated for the Danish Renovation Award (Renoverprisen), which annually recognises some of Denmark’s best renovation projects.

As part of the transformation, Woodfac Panel was used – a closed facade system with timber lamellae that acts as a protective building envelope, shielding the entire facade from weather exposure while ensuring ventilation.

The fire performance of the Woodfac system is documented through end-use testing and classification of the complete installed facade system as B-s1,d0 or B-s2,d0, depending on the timber species.

At Nordisk Profil, we combine architectural design, functionality and documented fire safety in complete facade solutions.
